Website Progress

PL logoHurrah, a post that isn’t a placeholder! I thought, for the benefit of our members who visit the site, and anybody else interested, that a progress report on the website might be in order.

Development has been slow, mainly due to the fact that I’ve been busy with other things, but also because I’m very fussy with code and like to adhere to strict standards where possible. This does take time, but is well worth the effort. Anyway, as you can see, we’re starting to get there. Other than a few minor details, the design itself is complete. No doubt over time the design will evolve, but the short term goal was to have something attractive and functional up ASAP so that content could begin to be added.

We’re now at a point where the static pages are beginning to be populated with content. The guild charter is in place, as is a first draft of the World of Warcraft page. More is on its way, and soon I’ll be making a post in the officer forums for input and help with content (thus far feedback has been restricted to members of the inner council so that I could develop the site as quickly as possible - too many cooks helps nobody).

So what can be done on the site? Well, the general purpose was to have a place to give out information to newcomers and those interested in the guild, and somewhere to post news updates from the various branches of Phoenix Legion. The former is achieved via the ’static pages’ (such as the WoW page), and the latter is easily achievable and can be seen from all the placeholder posts I’ve made in the various categories. You can navigate through the categories via the section on the sidebar over there ——–>.

You will also notice a tagging system, I’ll explain this more at a later date. I’ve also put RSS feeds to use, you can see the latest (public) forum posts in the sidebar of the site, and every post made on the site is also currently creating a thread on the forums (though the exact placement of this is yet to be worked out, it’s in a test forum for now).

Soooo, I hope that gives everyone an idea of the direction we’re heading, and the progress made so far. Officers - I’ll be in touch soon. :)
